Setting up a betting pool for the Belmont Stakes can be a fun way to add some excitement to the event. Here are a few ideas for how to set it up:

  1. Quinella: A quinella is a type of bet where you choose two horses to finish in the top two, in any order. You could have everyone in the pool choose a quinella and whoever gets it right wins a portion of the pool.
  2. Trifecta: A trifecta is a bet where you choose the top three finishers in the correct order. You could have everyone in the pool choose a trifecta and whoever gets it right wins a portion of the pool.
  3. Superfecta: A superfecta is a bet where you choose the top four finishers in the correct order. This is a more difficult bet to win, but could be a fun option for a larger pool.
  4. Individual horse selection: Another option is to have everyone in the pool choose one horse to win the race. Whoever’s horse wins gets a portion of the pool.

To make things even more interesting, you could assign point values to the different types of bets. For example, correctly choosing a superfecta could be worth more points than correctly choosing a quinella.

To set up the pool, you could use a spreadsheet to keep track of everyone’s selections and how much they’ve contributed to the pool. You could also use a site like RunYourPool.com, which has a template specifically for horse racing pools.

It’s important to keep in mind that gambling laws vary by state, so be sure to check your local laws before setting up a betting pool. Additionally, make sure that everyone in the pool is clear on the rules and that there is no pressure to participate. Betting should always be done responsibly and for fun.
